DESCRIPTION:
Written in the style of Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf", this lighthearted piece tells the story of the classic Aesop fable featuring the soloists in the dramatic roles of tortoise and the hare. No narration is required during the piece but the composer has provided a short explanatory and humorous text to be read before the performance. Audiences young and old will enjoy counting off the race with a "Ready!" "Set!" "Go!” on cue, and a big "Hooray!" for the winner of the race. This piece delivers great family fun! Grade 3.5 for band and grade 6 for soloist. Six minutes. Requires removal of the spiral binding to release parts. Spiral binding can be reinserted to rebind score.
